The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) celebrated ‘World Day for Safety and Health at Work’ on 28 April in collaboration with ILO and other international development partners. DIFE adopted the motto “ensuring safe workplace leads to smart Bangladesh” for this year. The project “Shurokkha: Advocacy for an Employment Injury Insurance (EII) in Bangladesh” funded by the Laudes Foundation and implemented by GIZ International Services supported organisation of the event to demonstrate its solidarity with the government’s efforts to raise awareness and change policies in upholding safe and healthy working conditions across all sectors. Shurokkha project aims to strengthen grassroots knowledge on the benefits of EII, and thereby promote a healthy and safe working environment through its three integral pillars: prevention, rehabilitation, and compensation.
