Collective Leadership Training to Civil Society Organizations for the launch of a Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue Platform on Employment Injury Insurance in Bangladesh

Context

This course is intended for core stakeholders in the process of implementing an Employment Injury Insurance (EII) in the Bangladesh textile sector from government, civil society, the private sector, and workers’ associations. Potential participants should have a deep interest in advancing the quality of the textile sector and the lives of its workers through multi-stakeholder dialogue, should be interested in individual skills development for improving collaboration on complex issues, and should be motivated to work with stakeholders from other organizations and sectors. The trainings and following multi-stakeholder dialogue events will be highly relevant to and further catalyse the introduction of an EII in the textile sector in Bangladesh.

Objectives

The first Module focused on:

  • Understanding multi-stakeholder dialogue settings
  • Fostering dialogic quality
  • Building multi-stakeholder collaboration ecosystems in Phase 1 of the Dialogic Change Model

The second Module emphasised:

  • Deepening stakeholder engagement in Phase 2 of the Dialogic Change Model
  • Balancing dialogic and structural interventions
  • Sustaining dialogues and maintaining stakeholders in the dialogic field

Specific Objectives

With regards to the facilitation of multi-stakeholder dialogue on Employment Injury Insurance in Bangladesh, collective leadership training was given to the tripartite constituents separately that focused on the following goals –

  • Develop a common language and capacity in stakeholder dialogues among the EII Initiative’s Collaboration Ecosystem
  • Discuss communication strategy for EIS Pilot partners
  • Build greater understanding and trust among EII tripartite stakeholders
  • Strengthen the relationships and cohesion within and between EII participating sectors
  • Contribute to an ongoing planning process among participants to further solidify, strengthen and legitimize sector-level dialogue and collaboration platforms for the Pilot

Trainers – Experts from Collective Leadership Institute

Methodology: (ONLINE LESSONS IN THE CLASSROOM) – The training took place in a classroom in Dhaka (Hotel Six Seasons Ltd.). The workbooks were distributed to all the participants before starting the training. Based on that the presentation files were presented through Zoom by international experts (including simultaneous live interpretation) and by local experts. Questions and comments of participants were followed to which the experts replied and interacted with participants. Facilitators were stimulating the dialogue and interactive discussions took place which led to a better comprehension of the various topics. Participants actively participated in working group exercises as well.
